Abstract : The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) has announced ambitious strategic goals looking towards 2025, aiming to attract 40 million foreign tourists and achieve tourism revenues of 3.4 trillion Thai Baht. This initiative underscores Thailand's aspiration to become a leading global tourist destination, thereby stimulating economic growth and creating employment opportunities.

Nattriya Thaweevong, Chairperson of TAT, emphasized the government's full support for this strategic objective, recognizing tourism as a crucial driver of Thailand's economy. She highlighted that to achieve this ambitious goal, TAT will actively pursue hosting major international events and develop customized tour packages catering to diverse tourist demographics, including seniors and medical tourists.

Following the global pandemic, there has been a shift in tourist preferences, necessitating TAT to adapt to new market trends. Nattriya pointed out that while recovery for export industries may take longer, tourism can swiftly generate income, providing crucial support to the Thai economy.

Tourism revenue in Thailand is expected to reach 3 trillion Thai Baht this year. To meet next year's targets, TAT has devised detailed plans and budgets. In addition to attracting 40 million foreign tourists, they aim to bolster tourism revenue by increasing the number of domestic tourists.

Thapanee Kiatphaibool, Director of TAT, revealed that to support these goals, TAT has requested a budget of 6.23 billion Thai Baht from the government, with 4.34 billion Thai Baht allocated for organizing various tourism projects and activities. She stressed their confidence in achieving these targets through increasing visits from high-spending tourists and enhancing tourism revenue from secondary cities.

Furthermore, TAT plans to introduce a range of new tourism products and attractions to attract tourists from Europe, America, the Middle East, Africa, and increase long-haul flight capacities to meet the needs of long-distance travelers. They will continue to attract tourists from the Asia-Pacific region, including China, India, Korea, Japan, Indonesia, Pakistan, Bangladesh, the Philippines, as well as neighboring countries like Malaysia, Laos, Cambodia, and Vietnam.

Finally, Thapanee highlighted the challenges TAT faces, including environmental concerns, rising living costs, and distortions in digital media. She affirmed that TAT will ensure the sustainable development of Thailand's tourism industry through eco-friendly design and technological innovations, maintaining its leading position in global competitiveness.
